Beatriz Sanchez Curtis

Clinical Psychologist

I provide psychological services to adults who might be experiencing some emotional difficulties or struggling at a particular time in their lives.  I offer a confidential and collaborative space to reflect upon these and to explore ways of addressing them.

I offer both short-term and long-term treatment.  In short term treatment, anything from 6 to 20 sessions, we can focus on clearly defined goals.  In long-term treatment, we can be more explorative and be able to deal with the roots of the problems, providing a more significant internal shift. This type of treatment can sometimes continue for a year or two.

After a brief initial chat on the phone, I would normally offer one or two consultations to assess in depth what the difficulties are, and discuss what the treatment might look like. If we think I am not the right person to help, I would normally make recommendations.

The talking therapy I provide is influenced by psychoanalytic theories and practices.  We would keep your personal history and cultural background in mind, as well as focusing on the present.  I can draw upon other therapeutic models, including cognitive and behavioural approaches, when more direction and structure is needed.

The following are some of problems I can work with:

-        Interpersonal difficulties

-        Depressive mood

-        Anxiety

-        Low self-esteem

-        Stress

-        Burnout

-        Neurodevelopmental conditions such as autism and ADHD, in highly functioning adults

-        Difficulties with adjusting to a significant and stressful event or life changes

-        Adults who have suffered adversities during childhood, including abuse
