Laura Robson Brown

Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

I am a qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor and a fully accredited member of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy). I offer an integrative approach to counselling that utilises my skills and interests from previous work as a musician, teacher and writer. I have worked with a range of emotional and behavioural difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, eating disorders and self-harm.

Recognising the profound influence that relationships in our early years can have on our emotional development, as well as our ability to engage with the world around us in later life, I am particularly interested in the foundations of Attachment Theory. The opportunity to uncover and deepen awareness of the inner self, in the containment of a therapeutic relationship, can help to build a young person’s resilience as they navigate and embrace the changing world around them. I often draw upon the creative arts to explore ways in which a connection can be made to the deeper emotions.

Through my work in primary and secondary schools, I am acutely aware of the many challenges faced by young people today and I am attuned to the real benefit, offered by counselling, of sharing more difficult feelings and worries in a safe and confidential space.
