Lizzie Felter
Clinical Psychologist
I am a Clinical Psychologist registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). I have 10 years' experience of working with adults in NHS secondary care mental health services and I continue to work in the NHS alongside private work.
I am experienced in delivering psychological therapy for a wide range of difficulties including depression, generalised anxiety, health anxiety, social anxiety, panic disorder, OCD, and PTSD and other long term consequences of trauma. I also offer therapy to people who do not have a mental health diagnosis but who would like help to understand, cope with, and change emotional difficulties they are experiencing.
Clinical psychologists firstly work with a person to develop a shared understanding of the difficulties and how they developed. This is based on the history of the difficulties, early and later life experiences and underlying beliefs which developed from these, current ways of coping, and factors which might be keeping the problems going. This understanding then informs the goals we choose to work on in therapy. Every course of therapy is tailored to a person's individual situation. I primarily use Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), combined with elements of Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR).
Please get in touch if you would like further information or if you would like to set up an initial phone call in which we can discuss whether this approach is right for you.
