Counselling Psychologist

Counselling Psychologists can help with a variety of difficulties. The first step would involve reaching a mutual understanding of how your current difficulties were developed, the various factors that might be maintaining them, and how you might be hoping for things to be different. The next step would be to collaboratively come up with a plan of how to change things or how to manage your difficulties.

I have a long experience of working with mild to severe mental health difficulties such as depression, anxiety disorders, including post-traumatic stress, complex trauma and relational difficulties, or with people who might not have an official diagnosis but might be struggling with certain aspect of their life.

I have been a chartered Counselling Psychologist since 2004 and have been trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Schema Therapy. I have a special interest in self-compassion and mindfulness, and I draw upon various other therapeutic approached, such as Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Compassion Focussed Therapy in my practice.

I am registered with the Health and Care Professional Council (HCPC) and I am an accredited member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy (BABCP). I am also a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS), the International Society of Schema Therapy (ISST) and the EMDR Association in the UK.

If you are not sure what type of intervention might be right for you, please do not hesitate to contact me for an initial discussion.
