Sharifa Begum

Associate Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counsellor

I have a Postgraduate Diploma in Child and Adolescent Psychotherapeutic Counselling from Cambridge University.

I work integratively, which means that I draw upon different theories to underpin my work including psychodynamic theory, attachment theory and person-centred theory. Sometimes it can be challenging to put feelings into words and a creative outlet may help. I use art resources in my work to help my clients express themselves and to explore with them their emotional experiences and their meaning.

Beginning therapy can be a daunting process and so I begin by getting to know my clients and starting to build a trusting relationship together in the therapeutic space. I work within the ethical guidelines of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy).
